Years of Services

Deepam Educational Society for Health (DESH)

The two key words "Safe and "Change" are very important in the lives of human beings to lead healthier lives. DESH facilitates the journey of thousands of individuals towards safe lifestyle by making them take decisions to change certain unsafe behaviour and practices. Empowering women and making them agents for social change is the greatest lead that DESH has taken. Communication strategy has played a vital role in the success of DESH using Social Health Education (SHE), as the tool used. ‘SHE’ follows dialogue centred approach, helps the outreach awareness programs to be powerful and generates interest to adopt safe behaviour. This approach has been appreciated by the beneficiaries and the donor organisations.

DESH implements programs for women and children, students, industrial workers and high risk groups like sex workers, transgenders and truckers. Evidence based initiative helps DESH to reach out the unreached. The organisation focuses on both prevention and treatment of communicable and non-communicable diseases.

DESH’s services include certificate courses in Social Health Education, skills in counselling, research methodology and also offer personality development trainings. DESH’s evaluation wing offers its services to benefit other organisations. DESH has appropriate infrastructure and well trained human resources to support various initiatives. Two decades of services help DESH to understand that scaling up and leaving behind a program which can sustain on its own is pertinent. DESH’s journey continues with support from various national and international donors, partners and the execution team.
